Th Youth Group will be taking a trip to Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL on Wednesday, July 29. The cost is $42.00 per ticket. All food, beverages and souvenirs will be the responsibility of the youth, please plan accordingly. The church van will leave at 7 AM, please be at the church by 6:45 AM. Come spend the day with us at the park! On July 5th, there will be one service at 10:15 am out at City Park at the east pavilion. Come early to get coffee and a donut! Child care will be available during the service. Lunch will be provided after the service; kids can play or swim, and adults can catch up with one another. Layne Kuhn will be making his famous brisket and pulled pork! If you are able to bring a side dish or dessert, that is appreciated. Please remember to bring a lawn chair and umbrella! If you or your kids plan to test the waters, please bring water shoes!

In our upcoming message, “Motivated,” we will dive into Nehemiah 2:9-20 to discover how God builds a calling that survives the harshest critics and deepest ruins. We will look at what it takes to honestly inspect the broken areas of our lives, step past the voices of doubt, and unite with others to rebuild. Don’t let fear or opposition hold you back from what God is calling you to do. Join us this week as we learn what it truly means to rise up, lock arms, and build.

“Courageous” Nehemiah 2:1-8
Do you find it difficult confronting people? Most people, whether old or young, would rather do just about anything else than have to engage in confrontation. While confrontation is often a subject many look to avoid, confronting issues or people is a necessary step in moving forward. As we rejoin our study of Nehemiah, we find that the opportunity to go forward has now presented itself. While this confrontation is necessary, it is also one that can be quite difficult and scary. How did Nehemiah handle this confrontation? And in what ways did God provide courage to move forward? I look forward to diving in with you this week.

“The First Step” Nehemiah 1:4-11
When you’re confronted with an issue or problem, what is the first thing that you do? Do you make a plan? Do you seek advice? Do you try to ignore it and hope it goes away? Last week we began our new message series, “Nehemiah: Moving Forward,” where we saw Nehemiah begin this journey by assessing where he was so that he could move forward in the right way and right direction. But in his assessment he found a huge problem that would need to be addressed–the people of Jerusalem were at great risk of life and limb. How would Nehemiah address the problem? Where would he go first? And when we face a difficult issue, does our first step match Nehemiah’s?

What: Vacation Bible School is a 5-evening summer program that teaches children about the gospel. VBS uses interactive themes, music, games, crafts, and skits to make learning Bible stories engaging and fun.

“Before We Move Forward” Nehemiah 1:1-3
The book of Nehemiah covers an incredibly intense time in the history of Judah. The Jewish people were overrun by the nation of Babylon–and those who survived the onslaught were taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar to live as servants in this pagan kingdom. Fast forward 70 years and we find the Jewish people migrating back to their homeland. But this time, everything was in ruins. The Jewish people were looked upon poorly by the inhabitants of the conquered land. And yet, God called them to move forward, despite the opposition. But how could they move forward when everything had been lost? We’re beginning a new message series on Sunday entitled, “Nehemiah: Moving Forward,” where we will explore the leadership of Nehemiah and the lessons God gives on the necessity of moving forward.
